Lay Aside Every Weight

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, the sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith”. (Hebrews 12:1,2) When your mind is prepared for action, doubts can arise too, regarding the promises of God. But by fixing your mind on His word, you can move to a place of settled conviction not denying the challenges, but overcoming them.

You are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses who have gone ahead, overcoming victoriously. You can too. You can run the race of faith freely and easily when you lay aside the encumbrances, the dead weight that you may be carrying. Encumbrances are those things that impede your Christian walk. They can be varied, but the solution remains the same. Just lay them down. LET IT GO!

PLACE: Lot, a righteous man was tormented in his soul because he was in the wrong place. And when it comes to the priorities of life, Christ must have the first place, the pre-eminence. Misplaced priorities are dead weight, which slow you down.

PEOPLE: Abraham moved away from strife. (Genesis 13:1) Isaac, when he dug the wells of water that had been dug in the days of Abraham, moved away from quarrel. (Genesis 26:20-22) Those who have the promises of God will not need to pick a fight. Lay aside the weight of needless strife for more than what people have taken from you, God has much more in store for you.

Practices: “But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled, about many things. But one thing is necessary”. (Luke 10:39-42) In your life, ask God to reveal to you, the one thing that you need to fix your eyes on. When any other distraction or anxious thought arises, just shift it to God. Then it’s not your problem anymore, it’s God’s and God does not have any problem !

PASSIONS: Evil desires can distract you and divert you. They are dead weight that you need to throw away, for they will lead you to destruction, and cause you to stray away from your destiny in Christ.

THE PAST: “Forgetting the past, I strain forward to what lies ahead”. (Philippians 3:14,15) are the words of Apostle Paul. Do not let the bitter wounds of your past spoil your present and your future. All that has caused you pain in the past should just be handed over to God and let go.

Lay aside every weight and run the race that God has ordained for you.
