In the awesome realization that the Lord is all you need in your weakness—for His strength to be made perfect—may you hear His voice speaking to you through His incorruptible Word. It comes to you this day as a seed, a word of promise that has been the subject of our meditation: His eye of favor is upon you. “The land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.” [Deuteronomy 11:12]
Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord
“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” [Genesis 6:8] It led him to reverence and responsibility toward the salvation of his family to build an ark by faith, just as the Lord instructed him. “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.” [Hebrews 11:7]
The principle to be gleaned in your life and mine is this: build a life shaped by Scripture, founded on Christ—the Rock of our salvation. Stand on the promises of God, and be led by the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of truth who guides us into all truth. He reveals, He leads, and He glorifies Christ. He is much more than mere emotion or experience. “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” [John 16:13] These are the Savior’s words—of the Spirit who sanctifies, who sets us apart for His purpose, fulfilled by His grace. “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” [John 17:17] As the apostle Paul declares, we are to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus laid hold of us. We are led into all truth, sanctified to do God’s will, and to be fruitful and useful in His kingdom. He will make you understand the truth that you may stand. He changes you from the inside by giving you understanding so you may truly live.
The Process:
1) Believe in Him
“Even as He spoke, many put their faith in Him.” [John 8:30] First, you must believe in Him; only then can you believe what He says. The Church must be a place of faith, not formality making disciples who walk in faith. This begins as you hear the Word and continue in it. “To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” [John 8:31–32] Not just reading one verse a day, but studying the Word continuing in it so that it may take root in you, strengthen you, and bring transformation.
2) Continue in Him—In Relationship
You will know the truth of His Word only as you continue in it, cultivating a relationship with Him. Rekindle the fire of His Word in you. Keep your focus on Him. True freedom is found in His Word—delighting in it day and night. Like a tree planted by the waters, you will prosper. And when interest in His Word begins to fade, ask for God’s help. Let your prayer be, “Lord, make Your Word delightful to me, that I may understand Your truth and receive strength to stand.”
3) Continue the Medicine of His Word
His Word is medicine to all your flesh. [Proverbs 4:22] As you continue in His Word, freedom through truth becomes your experience, and you receive understanding. “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it.” [2 Timothy 3:14] No matter the condition of your heart, His Word will speak whether to sow, water, or reap what has already been sown. It happens as you delight in His Word. “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” [Psalm 119:105]
Let this be your prayer:
Father, We thank you for Your Word, which is medicine for all our flesh, restores our soul, and brings healing to our entire being. Help us to continue in Your Word. Let it be rooted deeply in us so that we may be guided into the truth, the truth that sets us free. May we prosper and be fruitful so that You may be glorified in and through our lives. In the Name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
