The Designer Foundation:
God, the Eternal Architect, and Builder promise to build you up, even in these so very uncertain times, when absolutely no one on earth knows if or when the next wave will arise! And it is why it is going to be a spectacular display of His glory, For the Lord builds up Zion; He appears in His glory [Psalm 102:16]. His glory would be a demonstration of His power in the revelation of His Person hood as the Designer of the city with foundations, that Abraham, whose descendant you are by faith, can also look forward to [Hebrews 11:10]. For, as a child of God you have a role, a place in God’s plan. And it is by experiencing the promise of Abraham, of never being below, but always above, that you are enabled to fulfill the plan of God for your life.
Precious faith, precious promises:
The word of God specifically points out the importance of the foundation, when it comes to a building being built, which in the spiritual realm is the building of your life, your church, your family, your workplace, and all the factors and entities involved in the spectrum of your life. And your precious faith in His precious promises, are the key components of the foundation upon which, God, the Architect, and Builder, begin to build you up into what He has designed you to become, even as the apostle Peter has set forth in his epistle [2 Peter 1:1-4]. His divine power has granted you all that pertains to life and godliness in the knowledge of Him who has called you to His own glory and excellence, [vs 3]. By which He has granted to you His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire [vs 4].
Precious promises – becoming yours:
When you are a new creation in Christ, having received Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior, every good promise in God’s word becomes your precious and invaluable inheritance, even as He reveals it to you according to your need, whatever it could be. Nothing is too big, or too small for Him. The promise is yours to hold on to, For all the promises of God find its Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him we utter our Amen to God for His glory [2 Corinthians 1:20].
Promises-‘YES’ and ‘AMEN’, in CHRIST:
It is a truth, simple, yet profoundly powerful, displaying very clearly that the Christian faith is all about Christ and Christ alone. It is in Christ, because of what He has accomplished on the Cross of Calvary, that every promise of God is ‘Yes’, or, ‘this is how it is going to be’, and it is through Christ that you say ‘Amen’ or, ‘let it be’, for it to become a visible reality in your life. God confirms His promise in Christ, and you concur with it in Christ, declaring His very Name,’ Amen’, as it is written in the book of Revelation. It is indeed possible for you to say, ‘Amen’ with confidence and conviction, for God is sovereign, faithful, and true.
1. He is a faithful God:
It is what your heart can humbly acknowledge, as you are seated in the house of God this day, for the past couple of years of unexpected calamities have proved in so many different ways the greatness of His ever-abiding faithfulness.
2. He is righteous and true:
And therefore it is impossible for Him to make a mistake, at any time, or in any way. You and I can mishear the word that He speaks, and as a consequence go wrong in the way we take, but not God! He is always right, and His righteous paths remain true for eternity. Above all
3. He is the Sovereign Ruler:
It is the unchanging truth even if what is happening in you, and all around you could be speaking against it right now. Life has been truly challenging and upsetting for everyone on planet earth owing to the unpleasant pandemic, that has been our cup of tea! But your heart need not be troubled, for, God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose [Romans 8:28].
It is the promise of God, that is Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus, or in other words, in and through Christ. And it is a promise, not a formula. As a new creation in Christ, you experience His character and faithfulness, to say Amen or ‘Let it be’ to it with confidence.
Every promise in God’s word rises and falls with Christ. And it is the precious promises of God in His word, that need to be the foundation of your life. It is what will see you through, when life seems so unpredictable, in a problematic world. And as a Christian, you could face peculiar problems, but God has prominent promises to give you, specific promises for specific situations, that find their fulfillment in Christ.
Promise and your ‘Amen’ response:
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting; And let all the people say “Amen”, Praise the Lord [Psalm 106:48]. By saying ‘Amen’, to the promise of God that comes to you in your situation, as you look unto Him, you are saying, ‘Let it be, Lord’. It is your word of an agreement to it. And it becomes vitally important because the Lord Almighty has a wonderful plan for your life. But nothing happens automatically. And, He will not work it out, without your wholesome co-operation. He loves you, and will never force you. Your word of solidarity is what the Architect and Builder of your life desire to hear, even as He lays the foundation, with His good promises.
The Christian life is all about a mutual relationship as you agree and commit to His everlasting promise. It can be seen displayed even as a couple makes a holy commitment of fidelity and love towards each other, in the presence of God. As it has been said in a lighter vein, but is the truth nevertheless, that the significance of the vows, when it is spoken in love and commitment towards each other at the wedding, is what then results in the marriage being ‘Wow’’ or wonderful!
Also, as one knows very well, having been through various levels of academic learning, one has to study in order to be promoted. In the spiritual realm, as it is written in the book of Deuteronomy, God promises to teach you, that you may choose life, to be lifted up and enjoy life in all its abundance, which is His promise to the one who comes to Christ, to take His yoke and learn from Him, to gain an understanding of His will and glorious purpose for your life.
Faith – a positive response to His promise:
It is grace that sees God stretching forth His hand to give to you His good promise, and it is faith that sees you respond to it by opening your hand to receive it from Him, to become the foundation for God to build His spiritual abode. Faith is thus your positive response to the promise of God; faith that comes with the word of God dwelling in you richly. The narrative of the scriptures concerning the people of Israel has been recorded to show that even after experiencing a miraculous deliverance from the clutches of the enemy, most of them were unable to enter into the promised land to experience the rest from God because they heard the word of God, yet did not respond positively to it, displaying in the process, their lack of faith [Hebrews 4;1,2].
The Israelites stumbled, as they did not personalize the word that came to them, for faith comes by hearing the word of God, and finds its completion only as you obey it. Therefore when contradictions to your promise arise, as invariably they do in a person’s life, it is an understanding of the truth, by the working of the Holy Spirit in you, that will sustain you in the path of obedience. You will know then that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called by Him [Romans 8:28].
And it is then that the words of the Savior, In this world you will have trouble; but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world will keep you from giving up on the promise that God gives you; one that specifically addresses your trouble, whatever it may be. You will have the understanding that, even as He has exemplified it in His own life, though painful betrayals could arise to come against your faith, He remains faithful. And the Holy Communion will be truly meaningful, as you partake of it, for you will know and be able to apply the truth that all that is yours is His. You can find your rest in knowing that the battle is His, and He has overcome the world. The offering that you bring to Him is with the understanding that empowers you to confess the truth that what you gave, you have, for it is an eternal investment.
God’s word is ultimate, & your confession:
A life lived in continual fellowship with God is how confession of His word, in any situation that you find yourself in, becomes your lifestyle. In the process, every other negative alternative that could have been the words of your mouth, and the meditation of your mind, would be driven away. For, death and life are in the power of the tongue. And those who love it will eat its fruit [Proverbs 18;21]. Therefore, God’s word needs to be the ultimate – the one and only option. And when applied in the realm of the promises of God, a good confession of it then becomes truly possible, for as the writer to the Hebrews has expressed the wonderful logic of it. ‘He has said so, which is why you can confidently say too [Hebrews 13:5,6]. It is what you do, as by confession you say Amen to it, or ‘let it be so, Lord’.
And when His word dwells in you richly, His promise is your password in your situation, even if it looms in front of you like a mighty mountain. Yet sadly, though the promise of God to the Israelites was of a land flowing with milk and honey, they did not combine it with faith, a fact that was revealed by their confessions on many occasions, as they lamented over superficial inadequacies, expressing their wish to perish in the desert. And it became their lot, as God gave them up to their desire. It is what is recorded in the words of the psalmist, that says ‘I am the Lord, your God, who brought you out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.
But My people would not listen to My voice. Israel would not submit to Me; So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, To follow their own counsels’ [Psalm 81:10-12]. You could be having a hundred and one problems right now, living in a world that is becoming increasingly problematic. But God has thousands of promises in His word, that He has spoken; promises that are ‘yes’ in Christ, through what He has already accomplished, having fulfilled His Father’s will here on earth. But, they come to pass in your situation, only as you submit to it, saying ‘Amen’, or ‘Let it be, Lord’. It is what the failure of the Israelites in experiencing the promise of God, teaches you. They instead, depended on their own counsel, their own desires to pay a painful price at the end of it all, as the Lord gave them up to their own ways [vs 12].
But the God who so loves you does not want it to be your story. He has spoken promises to you in the scriptures, to reveal His plans and purposes for your life, that are for your good and not for evil, expressing His thoughts that are far higher than yours. And obedience is what brings every promise to its completion. God does nothing without you consenting and concurring with it, by saying, ‘Amen’, or ‘let it be, Lord’, with understanding. His mouth, His word, His desire – will succeed! And it is what brings the fulfillment of His promise, makes it an absolute certainty, as God declares through a simple and wonderful analogy. The rain that He sends, does not return without watering the earth, making it spring forth and bud, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater [Isaiah 55:10].
And the Lord then speaks the powerful climax, ‘So shall My word be, that goes out from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, But it shall accomplish that which I purpose; And shall succeed in the thing for which I send it’ [vs 11]. ‘My mouth – My word – My desire – it will succeed’, is the essence of it all, concerning the promise of God, and the fulfillment of His promises in your life, in and through Christ. It comes about as with confidence and boldness you submit to it in joyful adoration, saying, ‘Let it be unto me, Lord, according to Your word; Let it be, Amen’, even as you trust in His power for its fulfillment, and in His wisdom, regarding when it is going to find it’s fulfillment. For He knows when the timing is right; He is the Lord, who has made all things beautiful, and on one condition – in its time!
Indeed, the Lord promises good to you, this day and forever. And by faith and confession, they become the Designer’s foundation of your life, that you may be built up to be a display of His glory and splendor. His word your hope secures, and He will be your shield and portion, all through your life, that you may not be disturbed, as you trust in Christ, the precious Cornerstone, the firm foundation, God has laid in Zion. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen!
