Divine help

As the Son of God enfolds you, fills you with His Spirit to hear His voice this day in a new and special way, may you continue to be built up to be a spiritual palace, as you receive His promise – The Lord will build Zion; And He will demonstrate His glory. [Psalms 102:16] He builds you up, as He reveals His glory, in relationship with Him. It comes by being a child of God, calling Him Abba, Father, in Christ being your Savior and Lord, to then progress to determine all other relationships in your life. It is how He helps you, as He comes to your aid, in overcoming every trial and temptation that comes your way. For, because He Himself suffered when tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. [Hebrews 2:18]

He helps you, by empowering you to deal with it in the light of His perspective in your circumstance. It comes as you wait upon Him, to seek Him diligently. He helps you in your suffering, for He Himself has suffered. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses but one who was in every respect tempted as we are, and yet without sin. [Hebrews 4:18] And therefore you can draw near to the throne of grace to obtain grace and mercy, and receive help in your time of need.

He sympathizes by –

  • Understanding your weakness,
  • Sharing your feeling in your suffering, and
  • Being in touch with the reality of it in the present, before His promised deliverance comes to you.
  • He understands your weakness:

A human relationship, where understanding one another plays a key role, may often end up disappointing you. A classic example of it would be the so called ‘generation gap’ between parents and children. But it is also the truth that every generation has its own peculiar problems, for man is complex, and his feelings cannot easily be deciphered to be understood by another person, however close the relationship may be. But the God who became man, understands you completely, from the inside out. You have a High Priest who understands your weakness, not just the external appearance of it, but the very depths of your heart, where the source of it all could lie. It was how, on looking at the crowd that had flocked to hear from Him, the Lord knew their inner condition, that they were aimless and helpless, to sympathize with their weaknesses. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, for they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [Matthew 9:36] He knows it all, even in you. He knows every fiber of your being, even what no other person can ever know. It is why when you pray, He hears even what you do not articulate, to know what you are in need of. When you come to Christ, you are coming to the One who became man, so that man would become more godly, that he may then fulfill God’s plan and purpose for his life. Therefore, even in your life –

In His compassion, He teaches you:

For, some things in your life can never change, and a new beginning cannot come unless certain things are dealt with by you. Chief among it is forgiveness, that is in other words ‘a letting go’, for otherwise you can end up being manipulated by the devil, to become a pawn in his ungodly schemes that only lead to death and destruction. [2 Corinthians 2:10-11] But the God who understands your weakness, the temptation to hold on to your hurt, however justified it may be, in His compassionate sympathy teaches you to do what you need to do, and also gives you the strength to do it. And He never asks you to do anything that He has not already done for you.On the Cross, He took the punishment for our sins, that we may stand forgiven, washed by His precious blood. And we forgive just as God in Christ has forgiven us. The Cross was where He who knew no sin, became sin, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him. His sweat was blood as He prayed, surrendering to His Father’s will. It is what you and I can do, when forgiveness is difficult. We can pray to the Father for a willing spirit and strength that is supernatural. And trusting in Him, not trying in your own strength, you can see the grudge disappear, as His strength is made perfect in your weakness. The Lord did not die on the Cross, in bitterness. And today, He wants to help you overcome it in your life, that you may progress higher, in fulfilling His glorious plan for your life.

He has a shared feeling of your weakness:

It is purely the grace of God, that sees you and I alive this day, worshiping and adoring Him, for the past couple of years have been tragic and painful in almost every home. And the enemy could have come against your faith in God, tempting you to fall into ungodly ways in a time when even to breathe, one needed to take such care. But the God of grace is always well aware of the frailty of your human body, and fickleness of mind. And, you are never without His help, for He intercedes and also intervenes to bring you through safely, as you depend upon His power and might. The apostle Peter, prior to the Lord’s crucifixion thought that he was very strong, until the pressure of circumstances, and the antagonism of people, led him to deny the Lord Jesus three times. But the Lord who knows the frailty of the human mind, had promised him His intercession and intervention, that would bring him back with a new purpose of strengthening his brothers. And He is intervening in your present challenging temptation and suffering even today, to lead you in a triumphant procession, for He that is in you, is greater than he that is in the world.

He is in touch with the reality of your immediate suffering:

As Lord Jesus stood before the tomb of Lazarus, He already knew what He was going to do. After saying these things, He said to them, ‘ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. I am going to raise him up’. [John 11:11] The sisters Martha and Mary knew the theological truth of His words, that Lazarus would rise again in the resurrection on the last day, little knowing that a miraculous resurrection was going to take place in a very short while. They were immersed in their grief and sorrow. But the Lord knew that He was going to do. And still, Jesus wept. [vs 35] How poignant it all is, showing how truly compassionately, He sympathizes with your present suffering, understanding and sharing in your crying moments, not belittling the painful depths of it. And glorious is the truth that He is going to turn it around, even in your life, as he did on that day, when He made a dead man come alive. It was a revelation of – ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live’. [vs 25] Therefore, in the now, your painful present, the difficulties that could be your portion, even as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, or immense suffering, you need not fear any evil, for He is walking with you, talking with you, giving you understanding, stretching forth His hand to help you, and take you to the mountain top. And even as you acknowledge your need of His help, His wisdom and strength to do what you need to do, you can find your rest in the confidence that you are never alone; no, never alone, even as we pray – Father, We thank thee, for Your ever abiding presence, Your promise, Your power that is made perfect in our weakness, not only to comfort us, but to challenge us, that our minds may be renewed to conform more and more to the image of Your Son, that we may reflect His glory here on earth, as Your blessing continues to rest upon us. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
