Blessing – HE appears, appoints, anoints

The promise of God’s blessing is real and very true, to speak into your heart this day – The Lord bless you from Zion; May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. [Psalms 128:5] He instructs, inspires, and infuses His power in you, to bless you, to be enlightened as He shines the light of His face upon you. [Numbers 6:24-26] It is the light of the gospel, the true light that enlightens any man, that He shines on you, to bless you, as the apostle Paul writes for God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [2 Corinthians 4:6] He reveals Himself to you, granting you the understanding of its truth, so that you may realize it in your life, as it becomes your experience.

Your responsibility:

It can be understood from the experience of the apostle Paul, even as he testifies about it before king Agrippa. [Acts 26:13-15] And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me, and to those in which I will appear to you. [vs 14,15] It was a light of enlightened understanding that shone upon Paul, to transform his life, as he encountered Lord Jesus in a glorious vision, as he was proceeding on the road to Damascus in order to persecute Christians.

Responding to God’s plan:

And it goes to establish the truth that even in you, the revelation of God connects you with the purposes of God for your life. You are seated here this day, hearing His word, not by accident, or to experience disappointment that comes only when you miss your appointment from Him. For God’s revelatory vision to you, is God’s vision for you. He has opened your eyes of understanding that you may be connected to His specific plan for you. And it is unveiled before you progressively, step by step, day by day, by Him, as you respond willingly, for He has spoken – ‘I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. [Jeremiah 29:11] And, He is the God of forethought, who is always a step ahead. The pandemic could not shut down worship on the Lord’s day, for every house became a church! It is the devil who is always trying to catch up and allure you into buying into plans of his own that seek to draw you away from His good and perfect will for you. Visions and dreams could be how God reveals Himself, but it need not always be so, and you do not have to fake it. You are in a loving relationship with Him, and He primarily appears, by speaking to you through His word. It is always scriptural and never speculative, that you may understand with clarity, as seen in the life of prophet Samuel.

1] Appeared & revealed –

And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, for the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel at Shiloh, by the word of the Lord. [1 Samuel 3:21] ‘Open my eyes that I may see the wonders of your law’, is the prayer of the psalmist, and may it be yours too. This will happen as the Lord prompts you to read and meditate upon a passage of scripture, for the word itself paints a picture in your mind’s eye, to give a vision from God to you, that is His vision for you. When  ‘your wife will be like a fruitful vine’, is the word that God speaks to you through His word, in your mind and soul, a picture of it comes as a vision, His vision that is transmitted to you. Whatever may be the circumstance, therefore, in faith, as you approach God with the realization that He hears your prayer concerning it, by His word, He gives you the picture of His appointment, through which you may be led in the right path. And He is the greatest Teacher, as with ears that hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches, or a disciplined hearing, you imbibe what He is speaking to you very specifically, even as you listen to the word of God in His sanctuary.

2] Appointment & response:

‘Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance. [Acts 26:19] The importance of your response, to the revelation of God, that connects you with His purpose for your life, and the nature and timing of it are so important. And Paul’s response was in the affirmative and also immediate.

Repentance – your responsibility:

It involves repentance as what happened in the hearts of the people who heard the message of God through the prophet Jonah. It was something that the prophet could not digest! But the beautiful truth is that even today in your life, the kindness of God leads you to repentance. God grants you repentance, but it is your responsibility to repent.  God has planned it all for your life, and made every resource and provision available for the fulfillment of His plan, but you need to turn to Him, to hear from Him, concerning your appointment from Him, and not be disobedient to His vision, as Paul declares.

Taking heed, that you may not fall:

And the one who is standing needs to pay heed that he may not fall is the warning of the scriptures, especially exemplified in the life of King Solomon who began walking in God’s plan for his life in obedience and glorious splendor, only to deviate and go astray in his later days, when in spite of God appearing to him twice, turned his heart away from God. [1 kings 11:9] It was a sad ending of a beautiful beginning in his life, because of his indisciplined living. Sometimes it is not the difficult times, but the times of ease and comfort that can make a person’s heart turn away from God. But it need not be so in your life. And may your prayer be that the Lord would keep you from falling, even as He has promised in His word, that He will keep your heart soft or pliable that His kingdom may come, and His will may be done in your life to bring glory to Him and satisfaction to you, as you walk in obedience in the same direction, without turning away from Him, all through your life.

HIS gifts & calling – irrevocable:

Paul’s obedience was implicit and immediate. But it was not so, in the life of Moses, who was called by God to lead His people out of the bondage of Egypt, and into the promised land. And you and I can identify with it so easily. But it is when the truth of God, that His gifts and calling are irrevocable, speaks powerfully to you. [Romans 11:29] He never gives up on you, even as Moses discovered after forty years of regret,  thinking that he had missed the purpose for which God had called him. God appeared to him then in the burning bush to override his hesitancy and lack of confidence to lead him to his divine destiny. Even in your life, God never changes His plan and purpose.  He is not merely the God of second chances; He is the God of many chances!

3] Anointed for an appointment –

God appears in your life not only to appoint you but also to anoint you. The anointing of the Spirit is the equipping of God for what He has called you to do, whatever may be your sphere of operation. Planted in your home to be a homemaker is no cause for you to underestimate yourself. It was one mother, Susannah Wesley’s prayer over her sons that brought about a great revival in England at a time when bloody revolutions were happening everywhere else in the continent.

God is with you –

Let the truth of not what I can do, but what God can do in me and through me, transform you this day, for His word to you is what He spoke unto Moses saying, ‘I will be with you’.He will never leave you or forsake you. He has appeared, to appoint you, and also to anoint you. And you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.’Who am I’, need not be the thought that limits you, for the Great I AM is with you. May a prayer of thanksgiving arise from your heart unto the Father, for the word He has spoken, revealing who He is. And enlightened by the light of the knowledge in the face of Christ shining in your heart may you respond rightly to His glorious calling, appointed and anointed, to fulfill His plan and purpose for your life. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
