BLESSING – HIS goodness

May the Lord bless you from Zion and may see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life. [Psalm 128:5,6] It is the promise of God, that we continue to meditate upon, so that it may become your life’s experience. It is by the calling of God upon you that is connected to His blessing of being called the children of God. [1 John 5:1] And it is not about merely being called a child of God, but also being a child of God, in your character and conduct, to be transformed to become more and more conformed to the image of the Son of God. And impossible though it may appear to be from a human perspective, it becomes possible in the power of the Spirit working through the word that it may change your world. Your approach though becomes very important, for the good word from God can profit you only when it is united with faith. [Hebrews 4:2] It is a listening with faith, that comes by

Learning to lean –

It is leaning on God, for what He has promised to you by His word in your life’s circumstance, in complete confidence and trust, throwing your full weight upon it, much as you climb a ladder that is leaning against a wall to reach the top. And it does not pay to find in the end that it is not the destiny or fulfillment that you were aspiring for. Therefore one needs to depend wholly on the a. the power of God, for His word to be fulfilled. b. the wisdom of God, for the manner it needs to be fulfilled, for He has made everything beautiful, and in His time, and, c. the goodness of God, for doing what is good and best for you.

Leaning on HIS goodness –

Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good; And His loving kindness endures forever. [Psalms 136:1] As the refrain goes in this familiar psalm of thanksgiving, you and I serve a good God, whose faithfulness, love and goodness endures forever. And therefore, even in these volatile times, you do not have to worry about tomorrow, and take care not to brag about tomorrow either, for your times are in His hands, entrusted in His care and safe forever. He is a good God.

Leaning on His good word:

Not one good word has failed concerning all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed. [Joshua 23:14] Joshua, as he stood at the end of his journey on earth, as the leader of the Israelites, having been through the wilderness, and entering to possess the land of promise and dividing it among the tribes according to the instruction of the Lord, was able to declare above, what must have been indeed a glorious epitaph that thrilled his heart, and the hearts of all the people. It was the goodness of God that saw it all come to pass. But Jeremiah’s word to the people as they once again found themselves in bondage, not in Egypt, but in Babylon this time, were words of hope concerning their future. The days are coming Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. [Jeremiah 33:14] Fulfillment of the promise of God as seen above was in the future. After all, He is the God who has made everything beautiful in His time. And the time of waiting, it has been said, can make or break a person. For, everyday of your life is a gift from God, in which you can say along with the psalmist, ‘This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it’. As in the natural, there is invariably a gestation time that is involved before you see the promise of God bear fruit or become sight in your life. And it is the time when the principles that lead to divine growth of the promise of God, the seed of blessing that has been planted in your heart, needs to be watered, nurtured, and protected, that it may in the days to come, not merely survive, but thrive to see the manifestation of it in your life. And your attitude and action needs to be that of the early church.

Leaning on spiritual discipline:

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of the bread, and the prayers. [Acts 2:42] All the promises of God are Yes and Amen in your life in Christ Jesus. And therefore you can rejoice today, for you serve a good God, whose love for you never fails. Not neglecting the gathering of saints becomes vital, as it is in the fellowship of believers, in worship and the word that you are built up and sustained in your faith until the fulfillment of your good word from the Lord.

‘I expected good, but …’:

But even when you strive to be pleasing in the sight of God, and expect what is good from the One who loves you with an everlasting love, the world that lies under the sway of the evil one can bring darkness and pain to torment you. It was the experience of Job, to make him say, ‘But when I hoped for good, evil came; And when I waited for light, but darkness came. [Job 30:26] It was the stark reality of his life at a certain point of time, when everything that mattered to him was stripped away in a single day. And though it was wrong, one can in a way, sympathize with his wife’s frustrated words to him, for she was the mother who had suddenly lost all her children. [Job 2:9] But Job knew the truth that was higher, to declare –

‘I know my Redeemer lives’-

For, things may be bad, but God is good. Job was frustrated, but never gave up on his faith. He suffered, but submitted to the will of God, the Living Redeemer, and your Restorer. And when your pain seems to be lingering, know that He remembers you, in a loyal love and timely intervention. In the deep waters of trouble, the fire of oppression, He is in you, and goes before you, that you may emerge victorious.

Lord Jesus went about doing good –

The world’s philosophy prevalent in society is that when you are good, you will also receive what is good in return. But then, there has been only one person who has been completely, and totally good. And it was Lord Jesus, as He walked on earth. He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power, and He went about doing good, and freeing all those who were oppressed by the devil. [Acts 10:8] But everything bad, all that was evil, happened to Him. The judicial system, represented by Pontius Pilate could not find Him guilty of any wrongdoing, and yet was not able to set Him free. It is why our trust always needs to be in God. Christ had to die on the Cross, for all our sin and evil that needed to come upon us, was laid upon the sinless Lamb of God. He was beaten and bruised, and by His stripes we are healed, and by His blood there is victory in your life. A sword shall pierce your heart, came true in Mary, the mother of the Lord. But through it all, the divine system has declared you righteous, by turning the fruit of all your evil into good.

Loved by the good, good, Father:

When you are in a relationship with the Almighty God, you have a good, good, Father, and you are loved by Him. He is perfect in all His ways. And He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, will He not, together with Him, give us all things. [Romans 8:32] When you love Him, and have been called according to His purpose, He will cause all things to work together for your good. [Romans 8:28] Father, We thank Thee that days are coming when you are going to fulfill the good word that You have spoken into our lives. Help us to rejoice and rest in your word, until our faith becomes sight, for the glory and honor of Your Name. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
