Blessing- Knowing His Will

As you enter into His presence, sit at His feet to continue to meditate upon His word of promise, may the Lord touch you in a very specific way this day, to take you closer to your divine destiny – The Lord bless you from Zion; And may you see the peace of Jerusalem All the days of your life. [Psalms 128:5,6] The blessing of God becomes your personal experience by a godly growth that comes to you through the word of God, that is sure, permanent, and makes you wise, for it comes from the only wise God. [Psalms 19:7] And the apostle Paul as he commends Timothy for knowing the scriptures from a very early age, specifies what the wisdom that came to him thus, was for. It was to make him wise, to be led unto salvation. [2 Timothy 3:15] And it applies very well to you and I too, in our lives this day, for salvation is the sum total of all the blessings of God in Christ that come to you through the Spirit, from the Father. And experiencing salvation is about you having been saved, and also being saved in the present, and is made possible by the wisdom and power of God, that is yours by the Spirit. Paul’s prayer for the church at Colosse, describes it well, stressing the importance of knowing the will of God by the Spirit’s enlightening to be led to the blessing of godly growth. It reveals also the deeper dimension of Paul’s prayer, which is more than the practical and the mundane. For it is about, Knowing the will of God in wisdom and spiritual understanding, and experiencing the blessing of it, with thanksgiving. [Colossians 1:9-12]

Knowing HIS will with spiritual understanding:

In simple terms, it means the understanding that is brought forth by the Spirit, for, All scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. [2 Timothy 3:16,17] It is seen in the physical and natural realm, that when you open your mouth to speak a word, your breath emanates together with it. Similarly, when it is God, speaking forth His word, it comes with the breath of God, or the Spirit of Life, the Holy Spirit. Thus the Spirit of God, the writer of the scriptures Himself, enables you to understand, and empowers you to experience, in doing His will, that He has spoken to you in His word. It is seen brilliantly displayed in the life of the Ethiopian eunuch as he returned to his home country, from Jerusalem.

Do you understand what you are reading?

He was the finance minister of his country, who came from afar, to stand afar and worship the true Living God, for he had a godly inclination. On the way back, he was sitting in his chariot, reading Isaiah, the prophet, describing the Messiah’s path to the Cross. Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go near and overtake this chariot’. So Philip ran to him and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’. [Acts 8:29,30] It is the question that you need to ask yourself too, for indeed it is possible to read the scriptures without spiritual understanding Why?! For, as the title of the book, ‘Why, the question that never goes away’, suggests, it could, if you only allow it, be a festering question that disturbs your peace, and it is the understanding from God that can unravel it for you. And as Philip explained the scriptures to him, the Ethiopian officer, received the understanding, concerning the Lamb of God, the Savior of the world, to receive Him into his heart, as his personal Savior, and went home rejoicing. And history has it, that his transformation paved the way for Ethiopia becoming the first Christian nation in the world, far ahead of the so-called developed Western countries.

The need for understanding –

It is to know what has already been given freely to you, the true glory of it, for – Eye has not seen, or ear heard, or entered into the heart of man, The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know what has been freely given to us by God. [1 Corinthians 2:9,10,12] And it is how, Paul is able to confidently elaborate upon it, to say – He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, will He not together with Him, freely give us all things? [Romans 8:32] The understanding of this incomparable and glorious truth by the help of the Holy Spirit, is what can keep you standing, in the times when the revelation of God, bears no resemblance to your painful reality, when everything seems to be going wrong. The picture of creation, when Adam was the crown of God’s creation, and had all that he would ever need in his life, already prepared, before he appeared on the scene bears testimony to it. Indeed all that you will ever need in your life has been already provided by the Father, and worrying about your future would be needless folly. For, the God of Genesis, is the very same God, operating in the very same manner, in your life this day.

CROSS- the price of redemption:

He freely gives to you, for the price has been paid by Him in full on the Cross of Calvary. And understanding the truth of this magnificent transaction is what in gratitude leads you to give unto Him your offering, for the glory and honor of  His Name. Your Heavenly Father knows what you are in need of, and He will bring it into your life at the right time. It comes to you by His grace, and you receive it by faith. Giving and receiving is the manner of working, or modus operandi in God’s kingdom. And it all comes with spiritual wisdom and understanding. For, The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned. [1 Corinthians 2:14]

The pattern of the world:

But do not be conformed to the pattern of the world is the wise counsel of the scriptures. It is a system that places your ‘self’ in the center of your world, trusting in your own strength. But the truth is, you are not important; but to God, you are certainly important. And it is He who needs to enable you to understand to know what He has already freely given you. Let the Spirit of God, renew your mind, to cancel the old thoughts that are not of God, and give you what is godly and new. There may be the good and not so good days coming up, but what He has made freely available for you, is what He has spoken to say, that He causes all things to work together for your good, for you love Him, and have been called according to His purpose. [Romans 8:28]

HIS grace is sufficient:

When I am weak, then I am strong. [2 Corinthians 12:10] Paul’s confession can become yours too, as you rest in the sufficiency of His grace that is new in your life, every morning. The proclamation would not be a lie, but, what is in conformity with His word that can never lie. May the Spirit of God enable you with understanding this day, in every aspect of your life, to experience a cancellation of all that has expired, that it may be exchanged with what is new, and more glorious.

In gratefulness give thanks:

The will of God is progressive. To know the will of God therefore, begin with what you already know concerning it – Give thanks in all circumstances, for it is the will of God concerning you. [1 Thessalonians 5:18] Being grateful for what He has already done in your life, leads to greater revelation of His will concerning you.

In betrayal HIS faithfulness:

1 Corinthians 11:23,24 His faithfulness was gloriously displayed, in betrayal, a most painful contrast. He gave thanks in the midst of it all. And may you and I give thanks in all circumstances, for all the blessings that He has already given, and what He is going to do. Father, We thank thee for your precious word; enable our understanding, and fill our hearts with gratefulness. And lead us to a greater revelation, that takes us from where we are, to where you want us to be. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
