May this day be one that is memorable in your life, as the Lord ministers to you, through His promised word to you The Lord bless you from Zion; May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem, all the days of your life. [Psalm 128:5] You will never be empty handed, for you are held by the hand of the Lord Almighty, who blesses you, as He enlightens you by shining the light of His face upon you, to be gracious unto you. [Numbers 4:25-27] It is being enlightened in you by the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [2 Corinthians 4:6]
And studying the apostle Paul’s own personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, the true light that enlightens any man, to be transformed and connected to the purposes of God for his life, shines light in your heart and mine too revealing what can and needs to happen in our lives to experience true fulfillment. [Acts 26:12-18] And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen Me, and those in which I will appear to you. Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. [vs 15,16,19] The key lies in responding positively to the call of God, wholeheartedly and immediately. And Paul was able to testify that he was not disobedient to God’s vision for his life, revealing the truth that even in your life, God’s vision to you, is His vision for you. But in responding to it, you and I may be able to identify more with Moses, who came up with a lot of excuses to wriggle out of the appointment of God that he well and truly thought was beyond him to accomplish. Also Elijah was a man with like passions, is what the bible, the book of unsullied truth, declares in all honesty. But it can also be seen that, even in such a scenario, God is patient and perseveres without giving up on a person owing to his shortcomings and reluctance. And knowing that He appoints and also anoints a person, empowering him by his grace, giving him the wisdom, and strength to do what he has been appointed to do, is the truth that can set you free.
He is the God of many chances, who does not give up on His plan and purpose for your life. In the life of Moses the truth is so beautifully revealed, so that disappointment and regret need not be the final word of your life’s story. This Moses whom they rejected saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?, this man God sent as the ruler and redeemer, by the hand of the Angel of the Lord, who appeared to him in the bush. [Acts 7:36] Moses had a painful history; for forty years earlier he had ventured in his own strength to do what was rash and presumptuous, which when confronted led to him fleeing to dwell in the wilderness, overwhelmed in failure and lack of confidence. It was then that the Lord appeared to him, to re ignite his appointment. The Lord persevered with him, to overcome his excuses, promising him His very presence and His anointing upon him, that would be his sufficiency in executing his divine purpose.
‘Who is God?’, was the arrogance of Pharoah, as he countered Moses’s plea for deliverance. And it is what is in the mind of every sinner, for sin is essentially a selfishness that focuses on one’s own self to end in death that is a separation from God. But though you may be able to manage and take things as they come, in your own strength, you need God’s help to do what is godly. His thoughts and His ways are infinitely higher; and to do His will is impossible without His grace and His help. The apostle Paul had a right understanding concerning it, and having tasted and seen it in his own life, he sets forth the powerful truth in his letter to the church at Corinth.
You are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved, and those who are perishing; to one a fragrance of death to death, and to the other the fragrance of life to life. [2 Corinthians 2:15,16] And applying it to himself, in doing God’s will in his life, Paul is very forthright in declaring that he in himself was definitely not fit enough to do what God had called him to do. But he also had no doubt concerning fulfilling it, in his sufficiency that was from God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God. [2 Corinthians 3:5] Your adequacy too, your power, ability and sufficiency is from God. And standing on this truth, you can drive away every doubt that the devil brings in your mind regarding accomplishing your divine appointment. For the Lord who has appointed you, also anoints you, giving you all the resources that you need in order to walk in His will and purpose for your life. It is why you can boldly proclaim, even as Paul does, that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
David, as a young shepherd boy, would have appeared small and insignificant to Goliath, the towering giant who had been taunting the people of Israel for forty days. But David had already experienced the sufficiency of God in him, in fighting against the lion and the bear. He knew that victory over the giant was definitely possible, when he went against him in the Name of the Lord, trusting in His adequacy, and not in his own puny strength. And in the ensuing confrontation saw Goliath become a fallen giant! God anoints you, enriches and empowers you in a relationship with Him. There is power made available in the Name of Jesus. It sees demons flee. And the realization that your adequacy is from Him will give you rest, as you know that you do not have to become weary, trusting in your own strength, your own limited resources, to carry you through. For, when you are anointed to cook excellently, the Lord will make sure that He provides you with everything else to go with it, the smart kitchen and wonderful opportunities to shine for His glory. And so it is with any ability or special skill that He anoints you with, be it a medical surgeon, a teacher or professor, a fashion designer, a hair stylist, there will be no one like you, and all because of the anointing of God upon you, that blesses you so that you may be a blessing. All that is lacking in your life, need not remain so, for your sufficiency is from God, and those who seek the Lord, will lack no good thing, the scripture declares.
And when you are filled with frustration for the change that you are longing still seems a distant dream, do not allow the negativity of your circumstance to change you. Instead may His word to you change your world , as you continue to pray, believing in the God who richly provides all things. And when it comes to your work or employment, it is not about Him giving you a job that fits you, but Him making you fit enough for the job that He has already prepared for you, that is aligned to His will and purpose for your life.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, for good works, that God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. [Ephesians 2:10] Therefore, do not resign yourself to your present circumstance, and all that may be limiting you within and without. Let God be your ability and power, that you may with sincere and faithful prayer, rise above merely managing your life, to reign in it in Christ Jesus, as you depend on Him, His abounding grace, being sensitive to His voice of blessed assurance.
But the Lord said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you; for My strength is made perfect in your weakness’ – therefore I will boast all the more about my weaknesses, that His power may rest on me. [2 Corinthians 12:9] A surgeon’s ability is at it’s utmost when the patient is extremely sick. It is a simple picture of a serious situation, depicting very clearly that when you are weak, God’s power works best. It is the practical application of having been created in Christ and having a relationship with Him. You are the work of His hands. And knowing that your ability and sufficiency is from God, you can say with the psalmist, Wonderful are the work of your hands and my soul knows it very well. [Psalms 139:14]
God is preparing you by His ability and sufficiency for what He has planned and prepared for you. And His abiding presence with you is itself the indicator that you are in His wonderful plan for your life. And His sufficiency operates in protecting you, and preparing you, even as Moses, growing up in the Pharaoh’s court acquired knowledge and skill, and David and Joseph who were prepared by God by their life experiences, in the university of life, to be ultimately used for His glory. Indeed, He is more than sufficient for the fulfillment of what He has already prepared for you. May you offer up to Him therefore, your life in sweet surrender, all for Him, and for His glory, to pray – Father, We thank thee for your awesome presence, the sufficiency of your word, that we can do all things through Christ our Savior and Lord, for being our power, ability and adequacy by which we are more than conquerors for your praise and glory. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
