Let the voice of God speak a blessed revelation in you through His word as you continue to meditate upon it – The Lord bless you from Zion;May you see the peace of Jerusalem all the days of your life. [Psalm 128:5] And being enlightened by the knowledge of God, is His blessing, that comes to you, as He shines the light of His face upon you,the light of the knowledge of God, in the face of Christ. [Numbers 6:25, 2 Corinthians 4:6] He is the true light that enlightens any man who puts his trust in Him. [John 1:9] It was a journey of enlightenment that began in the life of the apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, when the Lord revealed Himself to him, as He appeared in a blinding vision of light, to appoint him as His chosen instrument in order to carry His Name before the Gentiles, and to kings and the people of Israel. [Acts 9:15] Through it all it can be seen ,that the key to the blessing of God, lies in the knowledge of Him. And one cannot know Him, unless He chooses to reveal Himself. Therefore Paul having experienced the progressive knowledge of God in his own life, prays for it to happen in the Ephesian church, emphasizing in the process, the principal elements of it.
A spirit of revelation and wisdom:
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, [Ephesians 1:17] The revelation of God can change your reality. You will know that even in the midst of unjust suffering and evil, He can bring about good, for He is a faithful God. And the revelation knowledge that you have a Father, who knows every need of yours, even before you can vocalize it, can stop you from worrying, as you focus upon seeking Him and His kingdom, knowing that all other things will be added unto you. When doubts arise, it is this confession of the revelation of God that can see them vanish, to be replaced by His precious promises that can never fail.
Knowing the hope of His calling:
It is what happens as you experience the blessing of being enlightened by the knowledge of God in you, for there is always a divine purpose that is connected to His calling. Having the eyes of your heart enlightened that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, [vs 18] It is never a random invite, but is relevant and very specific. A powerful example of it , of being called by God for a purpose, is what is seen in the life of Abraham, who was called by God to be blessed, and as an expression of it, to be multiplied. [Isaiah 51:2] And descendants of him, you and I are this day, by faith, to enjoy the blessing of God. You have been called to inherit the blessing of God. And therefore, it is also why in your relationships with others, you do not repay evil for evil, but with a blessing. [1 Peter 3:9]
In His divine power, life & godliness:
And being enlightened, is the understanding in you of the nature of your blessing . He is the source, and His divine power has given everything you need for life and godliness. [2 Peter 1:3] And what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might, [Ephesians 1:19] All that is lacking in your life in order to live a godly life, has been made available, by His power. And He is God, your Father, for whom nothing is impossible. He is able to comfort you as none other. And, when you pray according to His will, ask with the right motives, He loves to give what you ask for.You need not pressurize Him, because it pleases God to bless you. And you can come to Him in faith to receive His blessing, declaring as the psalmist does, ‘In the presence of my enemies, the Lord has prepared a table for me. My cup overflows’. [Psalm 23:5]
Attitude of grumbling unbelief:
For, in his life, and even in your life and mine, there indeed could be people around you who doubt it, and speak against God to say, ‘ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?’. [Psalms 78:19] It was the attitude of the Israelites as they journeyed under the leadership of Moses in the wilderness towards the promised land, though they had witnessed the miracles of God that had delivered them from the bondage of Egypt. Even Moses after hearing from God regarding the provision of food according to the demand of the people, questioned the logistics of it, considering the quantity that would be needed to satisfy such a huge multitude. But, ‘Is My arm too short to save?’, was the word of the Great I AM, as the wind blew, bringing quail as their diet, making them uncomfortably full for days on end.
Knowing God, His generosity:
And it all goes to lead you to examine your own attitude as you go to the Lord Almighty in prayer and supplication in your lack and time of need. For, He is your Father; you are His child, and have been called by Him to be blessed. And in knowing God, and the truth of the generosity of God, you can drive away every wrong attitude that could be in you, even this day, to move on to experiencing His blessing, that leads you to fruitfulness.
‘If only you knew…:
Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink’, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water’. [John 4:10] They were the words of the Lord to the Samaritan woman, and holds good even in your life this day, for He remains the powerful God who is able to bless you by doing exceedingly abundantly more than what you ask or imagine. Every good and perfect gift comes to you from the Father of lights above, with whom there is no shifting shadow or change. The prudent wife, or husband that He is giving you, or Has already given you, is surely and certainly a gift that is good, and will lead to perfection in a godly progression. You are His workmanship, and what He has begun, He will carry on to completion. It works through patience and humility that is in itself the blessing of God, as you bear with each other forgiving even as Christ has forgiven you. It is the transforming grace that He gives you, that works in and around you to bring about change, the maturity that is perfection, in the fullness of time. It could be difficult when you are unjustly misunderstood, but made possible in knowing that you have a good God who is going to bless you. Jabez was someone in the scriptures who applied and experienced it in his life, setting a beautiful example for you and I.
‘Lord, O that you would bless me’:
Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘ Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm, so that it might not bring me pain’. And God granted what he asked. [1 Chronicles 4:10] He bore the brunt of his dear mother’s agony, in the name that was his; a name that meant ‘pain’ or ‘agony’. But Jabez overcame the painful consequences of it, by seeking the blessing of the God, whose Name was higher than any other, and is the source of every blessing. And God granting his request , to be blessed, speaks eloquently to show the right path to it, for godly blessings come in godly ways.
The tale of two brothers –
And the tale of the two brothers Esau and Jacob, describe two very different perspectives concerning it. [Genesis chapter 27] Esau, the elder son, thought it was his birthright to be blessed with a double portion of his father’s wealth. And, he was his father’s favored son, though eventually life did not deal with him in a similar manner. His attitude that took his blessing for granted spelt his doom, for his crafty younger brother, Jacob, aided and abetted by his his mother who favored him, supplanted his brother’s blessing. It has been rightly said that by showing partiality, one sows seeds of evil within a home.
It is God who blesses you:
But Jacob running away from his brother’s anger, and after undergoing much trouble under his father in law, Laban, ultimately came to a place of knowing that it was only God, who could truly bless him, as he wrestled with the Angel of God all night, in a powerful encounter, after which he was called Israel. Every good and true blessing has it’s source in God, and nothing or no one else is the wondrous truth that it speaks into your heart and mine this day. It also assures you ,that even if the inheritance from your parents that is rightfully yours is not given to you, the calling of God upon your life is that you may be blessed by Him, to be fruitful and multiply. And it is an inheritance that is well and truly yours. He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, will He not together with Him, give us everything else for life and godliness. [Romans 8:32] The purpose of His calling is to bless you. And as you offer your heart unto the Father, with a deep longing for His blessing, fixing your eyes upon Him, may you inherit His blessing for which you have been called. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
