Favor in the Eyes of God – Worldly View

“This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” — Psalm 118:23

God’s favor is a marvelous promise extended to every part of your life. As Deuteronomy 11:12 declares, His eyes are always upon you. Noah found favor in God’s sight, and by faith responded with reverent obedience, building an ark for his family’s salvation (Genesis 6:8; Hebrews 11:7).

Shaped by Scripture — A Transformed Life

God’s favor shapes your life through His Word. As you build upon the foundation of Christ—the Rock—you overcome the challenges of life. Jesus said the Spirit of Truth will guide you into all truth and reveal what belongs to Christ (John 16:13–15). The Holy Spirit leads you to the Person of Christ. In Him, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

From a Worldly to a Godly View

As Paul wrote, “So from now on, we regard no one from a worldly point of view” (2 Corinthians 5:16). The world’s system is self-centered, driven by the lust of the eyes, the flesh, and pride. But those who do the will of God abide forever.

The worldly view is relative and deceptive. But God’s Word is final and authoritative. If the enemy can move you out of faith, he can move you out of God’s will. Yet through faith working by love, you find joy in obedience.

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age.” — Galatians 1:3–4

Corruption in the World

God has given us great and precious promises so we can partake in His divine nature and escape the corruption caused by evil desires (2 Peter 1:4). When we are polluted by worldly desires, we become unfit to serve God’s purpose. Transformation comes when our minds are renewed by God’s Word (Romans 12:2).

Avoiding the Worldly Pattern

Even mature believers like Samuel were prone to judging by appearance. But God reminded him, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). God intervenes when we lean on our own understanding and helps redirect us to His truth.

When Eli misunderstood Hannah’s silent prayer, grace stepped in. He said, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of Him” (1 Samuel 1:17).

God Corrects Our Perspective

Whether it was Gideon feeling unworthy (Judges 6:15) or King Jehoshaphat fixing his eyes on God, divine perspective changed their path. Even Jesus and Paul were misjudged (Matthew 13:55; 2 Corinthians 10:10). The disciples on the road to Emmaus were transformed when Jesus opened their eyes to Scripture (Luke 24:13–35).

His Ways Are Higher

Lift your eyes to Jesus. May His thoughts become yours, and may you see through His eyes, not the world’s. We give thanks to the Father, whose Word, Spirit, and presence intervene at life’s turning points—to renew minds, open eyes, and transform lives for His glory.

In the Name of Christ Jesus. Amen.
