Goodness that brings satisfaction to His people is the promise of God. And His promised word, that we continue to study is that – The young lions suffer want and hunger; But those who seek the Lord, lack no good thing. [Psalms 34:10] The goodness of God, becomes your experience in life, as you look into the perfect law of liberty, as in a mirror, with perseverance, you are not merely a hearer of the word, but become a doer of it, to be blessed in your doing, with every good thing, for – Every good gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. [James 1:17]
You are a gifted person:
And the fulfillment of it, the ultimate gift from above is the gift of salvation. You are saved by grace; it is a wonderful gift from God. [Ephesians 2:8] He stretches forth His hand, by grace, to give; and your hand needs to stretch forth , in a response of faith, to receive the gift of salvation. You are then, a gifted person. You are special: And a gift can only be received. It is not a prize, that you can do something and earn it. A gift is received freely. It is displayed in the truth of being justified freely, as a gift. [Romans 3:24,25] It has been observed though, that what is given freely without any cost, will not be valued, But when it comes to salvation, itis free because nothing can equal it. Therefore, you are special, because you have received the free gift of salvation, the price of which can never be paid by anyone, and hence has to be received freely. So great a salvation: Salvation is greater than what you can ever imagine. And He needs to open your eyes in order to comprehend it, for neglecting it would be at your own peril, as the writer to the Hebrews, has declared. [Hebrews 2:3,4] The value and blessedness of salvation, is the truth, that to you and I who have received it, it cost nothing. But, it cost the Giver of it, everything. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends’. [John 16:13] They were the Lord’s words to His disciples, knowing what lay ahead of Him. A demonstration of God’s love: For, salvation that has become our portion, came to us, all because of His unfathomable love, towards a humanity, steeped in sin. There was none righteous, no, not one. But, while we were still weak, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly. [Romans 5:6] And it was all out of His love, for, as Paul goes on to write to the Romans – But God demonstrated His love for us, in that, while we still were sinners, Christ died for us. [Verse 8] The nature of Christ’s death: It was a vicarious death. For, He did not need to die, as death was the penalty for sin, and He was sinless. He died your death and mine. The source of Life, died to give eternal Life. It was two thousand years ago, when you were not in the picture. But it was for you, who is now in the picture. And as the prophet Isaiah has spoken, describing hundreds of years before the Cross, the picture of it, and what was the reason for it- All we like sheep have gone astray, We have all turned to our own way; And the Lord has laid on Him The iniquity of us all. [Isaiah 53:6] It is we who needed to be punished for our transgressions. Christ on the other hand, knew no sin, but God laid upon him the iniquity of us all. It is you and I who ought to be crucified, punished for our sins, but we wear a cross around our neck as an adornment! It is the symbol of the divine exchange, visibly displayed.
LOVE, Unconditional & Sacrificial:
And Christ was not forced into it. He did it voluntarily, all out of love, so that now, you and I can say, as Paul does It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, is by faith in the in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. [Galatians 2:20] He was bruised, that you may be healed, made whole. And you have been healed for a purpose. It is so that in Him, you may die to sin and live for righteousness. [I Peter 2:24] And the only way you can repay, what He has done for you, what nobody else can ever can, is to follow in His steps, doing what you have been called to do, fulfilling His plan for your life, no matter how old you are. [Verse 21]
Realization & Appreciation Of Salvation:
It is by being thankful, doing everything without complaining or arguing, to bring about a change in your life, your very lifestyle. To that end, may your prayer always be, that you may realize how great a sinner you are, in order to appreciate how great is the salvation, that is now your blessed portion in life. And may the love of God poured into your heart, by the Holy Spirit, help you to experience it and express it, to be a channel of His grace and power. Father, May I realize, and respond to the truth of the word that You have spoken this day. Continue to do Your work of grace in me, to see my life transformed. Thank Thee for sending Your Son to die on the Cross of Calvary. And as we partake of the Lord’s Table, may all the truth it symbolizes become a part of us, that we may be healed by His stripes, and declare that there is victory by His Blood, over all the works of the enemy. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
