May you hear the voice of the Lord speak into your heart as we continue to meditate upon His promise that declares It is a land that the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually upon it from the beginning of the year unto the end. [Deuteronomy 11:12] His eye upon a person leads to a right relationship with Him is the truth that is seen in the life if Noah. [Genesis 6:9] And, answering the question of Job, it is what Christ has accomplished, by His Blood shed on the Cross for the sins of the whole world that brings a right relationship, healing one that was fractured by sin. Noah did not do anything to earn it. He found favor in the eyes of God upon him; a favor that led to reverence in him towards God. And the key to it was faith, as the writer to the Hebrews has described.
God’s word foresees & foretells:
By faith, Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear, built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. [Hebrews 11:7] And the biblical understanding of believing is defined in the scriptures, to be a faith that comes by hearing; and hearing the word of God, which then leads to reverence and a right relationship with God. Therefore you believe, because of what He has said.
God forewarns:
No one knows what the future holds; but the world demands evidence, before it believes anything concerning the future. Faith on the other hand is the evidence of things not seen. Noah is commended for his faith, for he believed when he was forewarned by God concerning something that he had no evidence of, or knew nothing about. Rain was an unknown entity at that point of time, to him and everyone else. But when you are in a right relationship with God, you and I, even as Noah did can believe what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what the Lord has prepared for those who love Him, the goodness that you can see and experience in the land of the living.
Why does God foretell ?
The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham, ‘All nations will be blessed through you’. [Galatians 3:8] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And in the beginning was the Word. The word of God therefore, foresees and foretells in your heart. It narrates the history of the world, from the beginning when it was created, to the end, with Him making all things new, the creation of a new heaven and earth. It starts before you came into this world, and will continue even after you leave this world. But what God wants to say to you now, is relevant and specific concerning your present time and circumstance, even as He spoke to Noah. And the word foresees and foretells it, that you may listen to His counsel, receive His instruction, and accept His discipline, that you may be led in the right direction, and fulfill your divine destiny. [Proverbs 19:20,21]
In the beginning – His word:
And the world and it’s desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God who abides forever. [1 John 2:17] Though man may make his own plans, only the counsel of God will stand, only His plans will come to pass, for only He knows what is going to happen in the future. Therefore, you would be wise to start at the very beginning wit ha prayer that you may accomplish His will for your life, instead of losing your focus and wasting your resources, on other avenues to then return to what God has already laid out for you. Therefore, listen to advice and accept instruction; and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. [Proverbs 19:20,21]
1. Listen to advice:
In a media dominated world, there are many opinions that surround you every day. But it is not what you want to do that is the question, that needs to be the question in you. For, God knows what you need to do each day, and everyday He has a plan for you. And your responsibility is to position yourself in a place where you can hear from Him, listen to what He is saying to you clearly with clarity. And you may have to leave certain things that have been part of your life thus far, in order to hear Him better. It is important, for Noah on hearing from Him rightly, was able to save him and his family. It is when you hear and accept His word that you are blessed by God to be wise.
2. Accept correction:
God will always speak to you what is right. And He knows how to speak to you in a way that you can clearly understand. And when you believe, you and your household will be saved. Noah by faith, was able to have his whole family inside the ark, and save them from death. To hear from God and act as Noah did even as you position yourself rightly is the responsibility that is yours, for your future depends on it.
Your times are in His Hands:
And as the psalmist has described his experience, though you may be like broken pottery, hearing slander on every side, can still choose to say But I trust in You, O Lord, I say, ‘You are my God; my times are in Your hands’. [Psalms 31:14,15] In any situation that you go through in life, any decision that you have to make, there will be three voices that speak in you – the devil’s, your own voice, and God’s. And His plan concerning your future is higher than anything that you can imagine or conceive. Therefore, even as you pray that you may hear Him better, choose to say what the Only Wise God wants you to say, which is is written in His word, that you may listen, respond positively, to be wise in your future. It is the word you hear that will bring reverence in you that leads to restoration. And so, may we pray Father, We thank Thee for Your word. May it speak to our heart, as we listen to it rightly, to respond positively, that we may be led to a place of fulfillment in our lives, as we are blessed by Thee to be a blessing that You may be glorified. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
