The Lord is your Helper, ever present in all circumstances, and may you hear a special and specific word from Him that comes to you this day, as we continue to meditate upon his promise – those who seek the Lord will lack no good thing. [Psalms 34:10] Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above. [James 1:17] Salvation is a gift from Him, by which you experience His goodness. [Ephesians 2:8] And it is by His grace you are saved; for, even when we were dead in our trespasses, through the Cross, He lifted us, to be seated together with Him, in the heavens. [Verse 6]
The Supremacy of Christ:
Christ died for our sins as the atoning sacrifice, and rose again, having by dealing with the power of sin, and the devil, accomplishing His Father’s will. To be enthroned in the heavenly realms. He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and He sustains all things by His powerful word. [Hebrews 1:3] He is seated at the right hand of God, reigning in power, resting in the finished work of the Cross.
Reigning:
It is a seat of power. And in the world system, as can be seen, loud and clear all around us, as the day of the election draws near, by hook or crook, people aspiring for it. It is different in the kingdom of God though, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father, after having accomplished all that He had to do on earth, the cleansing of the sins of the world, the majestic transaction that happened on the Cross of Calvary.
The Manifesto of God:
Christ is now enthroned, victorious at the right hand of the Father, and is appropriating the experience, the fruit, of all that He already accomplished on earth, to be the author of salvation, in every heart that believes in Him, in obedient submission. But, without sin being dealt with, nothing can be done to tackle the evil of the world. The root problem of every conflict, both within and without, is the sin principle that resides in man and causes defilement from within, from your heart, as the Lord Himself has clearly taught. [Mark 7:20-23] And nothing can be done for the betterment of any person, until the root of the problem, which is sin, is dealt with. It was in acknowledgment of the deceptive nature of sin, that Paul says to the Corinthian church, I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not hereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. [1 Corinthians 4:4] Just as Paul very honestly admits, it is often very difficult to see the problem in yourself; it is only the Lord’s grace, that makes it possible. He has dealt with it on the Cross, and now He will do it in you.
Fear overcome:
All that the Father has not planted in your heart, needs to be uprooted, one of them being fear, which came in man for the first time, in the garden of Eden, because he willfully disobeyed God. But Christ dealt with it on the Cross, and therefore in Him, you can overcome all unhealthy fears that come in you to trouble you. It requires from you though, the awareness of knowing that you have a problem, and also that you need the grace of God working in you, to overcome the problem. And, it is so often difficult to admit that you have a problem, and you may be oblivious of a problem in you, while the same in another person, could be very obvious to you! It is the deception of sin.
The godly way:
And it is why the psalmist rightly observes and also prays that the Lord would search him, to test his anxious thoughts, to say, But who can discern their errors? Clear me from hidden faults. [Psalms 19:12] It is what your attitude and prayer need to be too. For, it is so very easy to shift the blame on others when you are confronted by God, regarding a sin you have committed, an act of disobedience. Sin hardens your heart. Or you can be tempted to retaliate against the person who has offended you. It is then that the words of the apostle Peter, which describes the response of Jesus is of particular importance, that you may be empowered by Him When He was abused, He did not return abuse when He suffered, He did not threaten, but He entrusted Himself, to the One who judges justly. [1 Peter 2:23] When a man is violent towards you, speaks the same language, is what the world advocates. But with God, you overcome evil by good. Vindication comes from Him, the God who has said, ‘I will avenge, I will repay’. Even in your life, in the challenges you face, there is always the godly way, the ancient path that you need to take.
The root of bitterness:
It is to discern one’s errors and subconscious faults, when you sin even without realizing it, for it has now become second nature. But one has to call a spade, a spade, as the saying goes. Covering what is essentially a sin in terms like ‘weakness’, is never going to resolve the conflict. And you only have to acknowledge your sin and approach the almighty, that your sins like scarlet, may be made white as snow. It was the humble publican, who acknowledged the fact that he was a sinner, asking for the mercy of God, who went home righteous, from the presence of God, and not the self-righteous pharisee. [Luke 18:10-14]
He is waiting to help you:
He has done what needs to be done to declare you righteous, by His finished work of the Cross. And in your relationship with Him, He helps you to overcome sin now, for you and I are well aware, that though we have been declared righteous, the sin principle is still at work in us, if only we allow it to function. There is a core difference though. Before you were saved, you enjoyed sinning; but now, not sinning is enjoyable, for the sin problem has been dealt with once and for all. And you can approach the throne of grace boldly to receive help in your time of need.
You now have a Great High Priest:
We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one, who in every way has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us, therefore, approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. [Hebrews 4:15,16] The Lord is seated at the right hand of the Father. And the wonderful picture is that you and I are seated together with him. What a glorious truth, and your perspective can therefore be – He has seated you in His lap!
The seat of blessing:
And because He has overcome, so you can overcome! ‘As I live, you also shall live’, is His promise to you. [John 14:19] It is a pleasure for God to bless you. And whom He has blessed, no one can curse. It was the declaration of the prophet Balaam, as he saw the camping of the Israelites in the form of a Cross. [Numbers 23:8] You have a Risen Savior, who did it all for you. And may the song of your heart be – Lord, I need You; I thank You, for being a very present help in Trouble, even as You sit enthroned in the heavens, having dealt with sin, becoming sin for us, that we may die to sin, and live for righteousness. We, who were bound in sin, You have Delivered, lifted up, to be seated with you, becoming our wisdom, our strength, that we may depend on you and overcome, to declare – The Cross before me; The world behind me. No turning back, no turning back. Father, Thank Thee for giving us your Son, who has done it all, that we may be seated with Him, to rule and reign in all the circumstances of our life. Live in us, and live through us, that the world may see Your glory. In the Name of Christ Jesus Amen.
